Rustic Fall Wedding at MKJ Farm

We’re so excited to share Hannah and Lou’s wedding day at MKJ Farms in Deansboro, NY today because this couple couldn’t be any cuter. As you can see by checking out their engagement session post, they are such a photogenic pair with fun and off-beat personalities to boot!

Hannah and her ladies got to use the house on the MKJ Farms property for a convenient getting ready location, so Sarah met up with them there. She found them relaxing, sipping on mimosas and decorating the last of the cupcakes to be served for dessert later. It was like watching a glamorous cooking show since everyone’s hair and makeup was on point! The vibe was super chill, and Sarah was able to photograph their rings and her bouquet at this time. Before slipping into their dresses, Hannah passed out gifts! Each lady received their booze of choice and a cute lil cactus! Hannah put on her dress in private and came out for all of the ladies to see in awe. Her mom helped zip her up and a bridesmaid assisted her with fastening her shoes.

Meanwhile, Jenn met up with Lou and his guys as they got ready about 15 minutes away at Vernon Downs. They were getting pumped for the day when she arrived and showed off their personalized groomsmen’s gifts that included an impressive Ewok koozie, Pokémon cards, cologne and fireball (just to name a few!). Lou showed Jenn his suit and she was super thrilled to find out another SHP groom had made a bold fashion choice! Lou’s suit jacket was satin white with black lapel and pocket accents. She was able to photograph it while Lou did some last minute grooming. The guys playfully ragged on each other as they helped one another get dressed and punk rock played in the background.

MKJ Farms has a shuttle option that the couple took advantage of to allow guests to stay close to the venue and not have to worry about transportation. It was also handy for getting Lou, his guys, and Jenn to the venue! The minute Lou boarded the bus, he asked the driver if he could put his own tunes on and the shuttle party started! As they sang along and moshed (as much as one can on a shuttle bus!) to the music, it was clear Lou had picked his favorite fellas ever to be by his side on this important day.

The couple had originally planned for the ceremony to be outside by the property’s pond, but the weather was just too unpredictable to chance it, so the ceremony was moved to inside the barn. Guests started to arrive just as the guys finished placing bowls of kettle corn on each reception table – the final touch to the reception space! The barn was beautifully decorated in a fully committed fall theme. Large, fresh pumpkins sat in the center of each table, and green, glittery vines circled them. Each setting was complete with a custom wedding day koozie! The head table was covered in orange leaves, little glass pumpkins, and a beautiful fall backdrop with orange lights drew the eye to where Hannah and Lou would be sitting. Pumpkin accents could be found everywhere from the gift table, the guest book table and the pie, cookie, and brownie covered dessert bar!

The ceremony got started and Lou stood confidently at the altar awaiting his bride. He greeted each of his guys as they made their way to him with a big smile and a handshake. He couldn’t help some nervous laughter as his step-dad, the ceremony officiant, got started with the formalities. Hannah and Lou pledged their everlasting love to each other, sealed the promise with a kiss and were pronounced husband and wife to a cheering audience! The weather had broke after the ceremony so once family portraits wrapped up it was the perfect time to whisk the newlyweds away for a few portraits outside before the sun completely disappeared. Sarah, Wesley and the couple explored the lovely (if a lil wet) farm property for a little while. Just wait ’til you see what they captured!

Guests munched on popcorn, enjoyed drinks, and had fun at the SHP Social Spot during cocktail hour. Lou’s friend Alex, a DJ, spun records for them all night. Once Hannah and Lou arrived back at the barn, they were introduced to the crowd along with their wedding party and shared their first dance. They snuggled up close as everyone watched them dance to “Us & Them” by Pink Floyd. Dinner followed directly after and guests were treated to a delicious BBQ buffet by Doug’s Holy Smokes BBQ with meat that had been smoking outside the barn all afternoon!

The rest of the evening, Hannah and Lou spent enjoying the company of family and friends on the dance floor and by MKJ Farms epic bar. They gave us a heads up before the big day that they would most likely spend a lot of time at the bar with friends, so Sarah embraced that for one of her end of the evening portraits of them. There was no doubt the party for this adorable, fun-loving couple kept going way after we left. Enjoy some of the highlights from Hannah and Lou’s best day ever!!

Congratulations and best wishes, Mr. and Mrs. Smith!!
