Maximizing our time with our couples on their best day ever to capture images they’ll cherish is our primary goal! We take pride in making time for the meetings and phone calls we have with our couples leading up to the wedding day. They allow us to coordinate a detailed timeline. Having all of the organizational planning completed ahead of time means we get to have lots of fun once the day arrives! If you don’t know by now, we are huge fans of having fun! Sarah encourages the wedding party to let loose a little in front of the camera, to let individual personalities and special relationships shine. She has a bunch of tricks in her bag to help make these moments happen too. Sarah may ask to see some tongues or have one person whisper to another to entice a genuine laugh. She may ask to see everyone’s silliest faces (side note: Sarah once gave her husband one of the silliest, unflattering photos of herself to give him a good laugh and he carried it around in his wallet for the longest time). She may even embrace what she knows about the group of people in front of her, like asking a group of cop friends to give their best “freeze, police!” pose.
In the planning stages, we find out things like how many people are in the wedding party, how much time for photographs we will have, and where couples want to have these photographs happen. We take these things into consideration to figure out the logistics beforehand so the precious time we have for photography is well used. For example, if a wedding party is 24 people deep (which we managed fabulously for the first time this past season – our biggest wedding party yet!) getting everyone together and in one location will take way more time than it would with a wedding party of 6.
The start of our 2018 wedding season is today! We’ve finished the planning process with our few first couples, which has got us super excited. We can’t wait to see what quirky shenanigans the 2018 season brings! For now, check out some of the quirkiness Sarah was able to get from our 2017 wedding parties.
