Izzy and Marvin truly had the force on their side during their wedding day at Beardslee Castle in Little Falls, NY. They brought their love for Star Wars, gaming, friendship and each other together with class at their down to earth, elegant wedding day (in a castle!)!
The day started with Izzy perfecting her bridal look with help from her bridesmaids and “bros”maids in the Beardslee Castle bridal room. Izzy’s best friend (& former SHP groom!), Jason, was the best Man of Honor! His wife Kristen was also in the wedding party and was so helpful in keeping the getting ready portion of the day on track. They helped Izzy get into her beautiful dress, that had sheer sleeves with some exquisite lace appliqué, and buttoned her up. Both “bros”maids were super attentive – it was sweet! Each one helped Izzy with her earrings – lol! Once Izzy’s chic birdcage veil was in perfect place, she was ready to embark on the first look experience!
Meanwhile, Marvin and his fellas gathered in the center of Little Falls at the Travelodge to assist each other in putting the finishing touches on their suits. Marvin took some time to open a gift from Izzy too. She got him an assortment of things and tagged them with the reasons why. Like the handkerchief embroidered with “Happy Tears” she got him and tagged it with “Because let’s face it, you’ll need it.” So adorable!! Once everyone’s champagne-colored ties were tight and straight, the guys toasted to Marvin and made their way to the venue so he could see his bride.
Izzy and Marvin’s first look took place in the gorgeous Beardslee Castle side garden, and the light was simply perfect. It complimented their beaming faces as they saw each other for the first time! The golden flowers of Izzy’s bouquet (made from recycled materials by Pine & Petal Weddings) coordinated perfectly with the color of Marvin’s tie. They joyfully embraced and then took the sight of each other in before posing for portraits.
The ceremony took place right in front with the historic castle as the backdrop. Guests were provided tissues for their happy tears and black and gold ribbon wands for waving with excitement. Izzy and Marvin pledged their love and devotion to each other in front of family and friends, married by their close friend Ed. The guests waved their ribbon wands high once Izzy and Marvin were pronounced husband and wife and made their way back down the aisle together.
Guests were invited upstairs to the reception space for cocktail hour. There they were greeted by a unique guest book made of wood and in the shape of the Millenium Falcon, completely customized for the couples wedding day. Little R2D2s also made of wood were for signing and dropping into the top of the ship, to fall as they may and be forever on display! Guests were also treated to the wedding day debut of The SHP Social Spot! As they grabbed cocktails and snacked on crudités, they mingled, took selfies and made fun gifs at The Social Spot.
The newlyweds and their wedding party were introduced, Cindy Ormond Style!, during the end of cocktail hour. The couple got to mingle with guests for a bit, hear praise about their lovely ceremony, and show friends their awesome Star Wars themed champagne flutes before everyone was invited to take their seats for toasts. The castle’s reception space has a magical, intimate feel. The head table placement creates quite the scene on its own and Izzy’s gold, cream and black accents brought just the right touch to amp up the magic. Guests took to their gold Chiavari chairs to listen to the toasts.
After dinner, Izzy and Marvin shared their first dance. They surprised everyone with tender choreography to Ingrid Michealson’s “The Way I Am.” The guests erupted in applause and the real celebrating began as the dance floor was opened up. Izzy did her best to get all her friends out on the dance floor at least once but she didn’t have to try hard with some of them! The group really got down. Soon it was time for the garter and bouquet tradition that everyone but Marvin knew would have a twist! Once it was his turn to toss the garter to all the single men, a few of the groomsmen worked to make sure Marvin wouldn’t look back as a giant inflatable T-Rex entered the crowd as a single dude. You should have seen Marvin’s face when he saw who caught that garter! It was classic.
As we said, the force was definitely strong with Izzy and Marvin and their family and friends on the beautiful fall night they married! It was a true pleasure to document their day and to see some familiar faces. We know you’ll love the highlights from their fun-loving best day ever!!
Congratulations and best wishes, Mr. & Mrs. Roquero!!
