We love photographing weddings locally! Jenni and Kurtis had a glamorous best day ever at the historic Landmark Theatre in Syracuse, NY. We were super lucky to be a part of their celebration of love! It was a genuine and classy late October night to remember. You should check out their sweet engagement session too (go ahead and have a click! it’ll open in another tab and be waiting for you!). Jenni finished getting ready at the Landmark with her side of the wedding party in a room full of mirrors. Her dress hung in a huge window overlooking downtown. The vibe was casual as Jenni perfected her hair and her sister polished her toes. With makeup and hair complete, the ladies helped lace Jenni into her dress.
Meanwhile, Kurtis and his side of the wedding party gathered in the cigar lounge downstairs to finish putting together their dapper looks! Everyone wore black suits with bow ties, except Kurtis’s suit had a special twist – a black velvet suit jacket! It was the perfect fashion choice for the evening soiree planned! Before putting on his shoes, he made a tribute to his late mother and stepmother out of them by writing their names on the sides in silver. He took a moment to reflect after writing their names and then got back to finalizing his look. Right before the ceremony, his dad, also his best man, helped get his tie and boutonniere just right.
The ceremony took place on the theatre’s stage, which created an epic scene! Guests filed into the theatre to settle into the red velveteen chairs. The lights dimmed as Kurtis made his way through the audience to the stage. The red velvet curtain closed. It added a rich, elegant layer. Jenni made her entrance on her father’s arm. Her white satin gown shimmered in the spotlight and popped against the stage curtain. Kurtis and Jenni exchanged vows in a ceremony filled with happy tears and sealed them with a kiss and a rush of applause.
Following the ceremony, Sarah created some family portraits with the couple on the second floor in a choice spot with an epic, ornate backdrop. Meanwhile, guests were welcomed to the lobby of the theatre for cocktails and crudités. The wedding party mingled with guests until it was their turn to pose with the couple. At last, it was time to find a few beautiful nooks for the newlywed’s portraits, which wasn’t a difficult task since the Landmark is stunning at every turn.
Before heading upstairs for dinner, guests gathered around the dance floor for formal introduction to the wedding party and newlyweds. Each member of the wedding party busted a move on the dance floor. Jenni and Kurtis then descended the beautiful staircase to the dance floor to share their first dance as husband and wife. They beamed with love as they embraced and glided around the dance floor to John Legend’s “You & I”. Jenni then took this time to share a dance with her dad. It was such a special moment that ended with him lifting her up and spinning her around, just like she was still his little girl.
The reception space was stunning. Set up on the second floor of the theatre, the newlywed’s table, draped in red and gold, popped amongst the other tables covered in white linens with clusters of eclectic, elegant gold candlesticks as centerpieces. Taking from the eastern theme of the theatre surrounding them, they used colorful elephants for table numbers and smaller, more intricate elephants for accent decorations. Their elegant white cake sat at one end of the room surrounded by plates of yummy, gourmet donuts and a movie poster style guest book sat at the other end. The wedding party sat at one long, epic table beautifully decorated with gold and shimmer.
Before dinner, speeches from Jenni’s Dad, sister, best friend, and Kurtis’ Dad showered the couple with affection. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. Everyone was so happy to be present for Jenni and Kurtis. However, they also dearly missed those that could not physically be there. A buffet dinner by Diamond Catering commenced after speeches, and it was delicious as always. Once the cake was ceremoniously cut, the dance floor flooded!
Jenni stole away and changed into a white party dress before joining everyone on the dance floor. She was rocking it! The couple did a little dance/sing off in the middle of the floor to Beyoncé and Jay-Z. It got even more people out on the floor! Time flew and before we knew it, Sarah was working on an epic night shot despite the rainy weather. She couldn’t help but embrace the Landmark’s iconic marquee for this image. Jenni’s fur stole was the perfect touch for the image too. They truly looked like Hollywood stars!
Congratulations and best wishes, Mr. & Mrs. Jobson!
