Alex and Rachael’s elegant wedding day reception was held at The Sinclair in Skaneateles, NY. We had the pleasure of photographing the first wedding ever at The Sinclair, so Team SHP was super stoked to return to the venue to see what they’ve been up to and what the couple’s careful planning could do with such a lovely space (we get to shoot at The Sinclair twice more this season, too!). I’m getting off track though! Let me get back to Alex and Rachael’s wedding day, which Team SHP described as intimate, elegant bohemian, passionate – just to mention a few words that came up in the post-wedding powow!
Sarah and Wesley started documenting the day on the epic third floor by photographing Rachael’s details as she finished up at the salon with her girls. Sarah was ready for some candids once the ladies arrived. She took some fun photos of the girls at the vanity stations, and Rachael’s flower girl, Amelia, seemingly showed lots of interest in apprenticing with SHP by assisting and keeping everyone on schedule!
Meanwhile, Alex got ready for their union with his best man by his side in a nice space located at the couples’ beloved Imperfect Church in Camillus. Pastor Mark met me shortly before Alex’s arrival as I scoped out the ceremony space there. He was very kind to adjust the lighting so that I could snap a few images of the space before anyone arrived exactly as it would be during the ceremony. He shared with me then that Alex had built the beautiful copper structure that lovely merlot and white roses cascaded from and which geometric shapes made of blonde wood hung, creating a dreamy backdrop for the ceremony. Pastor Mark added that not only did Alex create the ceremony backdrop, he also helped build the backdrop in front of which every church service takes place. Within moments of meeting Alex, it was clear he cared a lot about his church and is a creative guy. Before getting into his suit, he assembled the sweetest moss filled geometric glass case to nestle the wedding rings in and have the ring bearer carry to the altar. Alex’s face lit up so bright when he finally saw Rachael for the first time, and they were married in a spiritual and loving ceremony in front of that beautiful backdrop. Before heading to The Sinclair, they posed with family for some formal portraits.
The rain didn’t keep us from creating some awesome images of the wedding party as well as the couple because The Sinclair was so beautifully decorated! In each opportune corner of the venue, She Rents Vintage set up the loveliest vignettes of furniture we were happy to use as backdrops. Alex and Rachael were captivating to photograph, as she looked stunning and he, as dapper AF. Rachael mentioned to Sarah as she first laid eyes on her vision come to life for the reception dining space that it had a very Beauty and the Beast feel to it, which was just perfect being it’s her favorite Disney movie! The tables were adorned with small stacks of books with geometric glass tealight holders atop, and in the center stood brass candelabras. The rose gold glitz and navy accents pulled together with the merlot and white roses that flanked their sweetheart table.
A few heartfelt speeches commenced as guests started to enjoy dinner, which was an Around the World themed buffet. When Rachael vowed to Alex she would never ask him if he’s getting enough protein as a vegan, eliciting laughter from the guests, I think she was confident he’d be just fine after tasting what Rosalie’s had to offer them for their first meal as husband and wife. They got creative with stations representing Mexico, Italy, Greece, and India and it sure was tasty!
Alex and Rachael’s time with us ended with a chance to get some fresh air, and pose for some epic night shots as they reflected on the fleeting, precious moments of their best day ever so far. We’re sure the night went on to be filled with incredible warmth and joy. Check out the smoldering highlights!
