I have this instagram friend, not sure where I found her from or how she ended up on my list of friends, but she posts photos of her kitchen/dining area and I see her cuuuute yellow hutch and I’d drool over it. So, I told myself I’d hunt on craigslist to find a hutch to buy and makeover! Tim and I went and checked one out but it was too run down and too much money!
I decided to reach out to my Facebook friends and make a post to see if anyone had one or knew anyone that had a hutch! I posted the photos of the beautiful yellow hutch so they could see the style and size I was interested in! A couple of minutes later one of our groomsmen commented saying his girlfriend (my bridesmaid) had a hutch about the same size just a little different that we could come look at it and have for free if we wanted! SO EXCITING! We went and checked it out and loaded it in my Kia Soul ASAP!
We bought Valspar “sea lily” interior house paint and primer, some sandpaper and Tim went to town! I was in charge of the knobs which I found at Hobby Lobby! I’m so excited about our new hutch and proud of Timmy’s awesome paint job!! Overall I think we spent around $40 total for supplies in general. We spent $12 for a quart of paint and we used about half of it. We spent about $4.00 on the sand paper but probably used $0.50 of it and then 4.99 per knob and I bought five of them, but only used 4 of them. So total cost for the hutch was $26.50 when we break down product usage versus costs! I’d say that it was a great deal! We’re going to use the sand paper for other painting projects and the paint for a picture frame and a couple other things we have set aside to paint! That way we’ll have the color spaced out in our living area a few different times to tie in with the hutch!
That is too cute! Seriously, I LOVE hobby lobby. Its dangerous, like target!
Love the color choice! Those knobs are awesome!

It’s important to feel comfortable and happy in your home/workplace environment! Kudos!
LOVE this! When we have a bigger place I know I’m going to want to refinish so much furniture! Now I know to look at Hobby Lobby instead of Anthro for cute knobs!!! Great job Sarah!
Such a nice improvement!
