Hagerstown, Anteitam, Miss. William’s Farm Store. Maryland

So I’m down visiting with my grandparents in Hagerstown, Md. We’ve had quite the adventures and I’ve only been here for one full day!

Yesterday we went to a farm store right on the property of a mennonite family farm. My grandparents have been going there for their fresh fruits and veggies for a while now so Miss. Williams knows them pretty well! I was dying to bust my camera out and go photojournalist on the place but I waited until everything was purchased and asked away.

My favorite images were when I connected with “Lauren” a cute little Mennonite gal who I asked if I could take her picture and she shyly nodded yes. Miss. Williams caught wind and came right over and took off her bonnet for the photo! I thought that was very interesting! I just adore how she’s holding herself in the photo. So innocent and pure. I can’t help but wonder if anyone else has ever taken her picture or the other children at the farm! I wanted to stay and just take portraits, haha!

After a short stroll around the veggies and a chat with a goat we headed on to our next stop! Anteitam Battlefield, but not before Chick Fil A. Yep, guilty. When in the south, we must stop. Haha. We watched a short video that summarized the bloodiest battle in the history of the US and then got to drive around get out of the car and check out important monuments like Dunker Church, Burnside Bridge, the Sunken Road, and the observation tower. It was interesting and a little overwhelming to think so many people lost their lives right where I was standing.

It was a lovely day, overall and Tim and I even got a 10+mile bike ride in along the Potamac River right in Williamsport, MD. There’s a towpath along an old canal that runs 185 miles from DC to Ohio apparently! Made for a great ride. Saw a bunch of deer, lots of pretty nature and an abandoned house which we stopped to check out! Can’t wait for the rest of this week’s adventures. Cheers!
